In 1986, Dieter Rams designed the FSB 1138 door handle – a study in exceptional clarity. Four decades later, it returns, refined and ready for the future. The handle is produced entirely in Brakel from aluminum with FSB ASL® bearing technology. The distinctive gray tone of the original rgs (rams grau schwarz, in English: rams gray black) reappears in the new Aluminum Pure finish. Every intervention has been deliberately minimal and carried out in close collaboration with Dieter Rams.

Innovation is not immediately visible in the FSB 1138. It lies in the material and the engineering. Today, the door handle is made entirely of aluminum, a material that ages gracefully without losing quality and can be fully recycled as a single material. The integrated FSB ASL® bearing system ensures that the handle remains precisely positioned over time. No droop, no fatigue. Also new is a fully black version, developed in close collaboration with Dieter Rams. A technical evolution in the spirit of Dieter Rams’ seventh principle of good design: Langlebigkeit (English: durability).

The FSB 1138 is available in a curated selection of door and window hardware configurations. The relaunch focuses on those variants that most clearly express the character of the original design. The result is not a new product family, but the streamlined return of a Dieter Rams design classic.
