Material, form and colour:

FSB's Les Couleurs® Le Corbusier completes the trio of elements of outstanding design

22.03.2023

By adding Les Couleurs® Le Corbusier to its portfolio, the Brakel-based manufacturer of door and window handles is introducing a wealth of new design options. Carefully considered, the interaction of material, form and colour gives rise to a quality of design that delights both hand and eye alike. The FSB 1267 product family and selected ErgoSystem A100 models are now available in the perfectly coordinated architectural colours of Le Corbusier's Polychromie Architecturale. This establishes FSB's position in the network of high-calibre Les Couleurs® Le Corbusier partners for door and window hardware as well as fittings and fixtures for users with reduced mobility.

FSB considers fittings for doors and windows, and ergonomic systems for those with reduced mobility to be useful tools, acting as extensions of the human hand. Using them is a tactile experience shaped by form and materiality. In the 1950s, with this in mind, the East-Westphalian company developed its seminal design that is moulded to the hand – still a classic today. Created in collaboration with top-notch architects and designers, the highly effective solutions in terms of both form and function literally epitomise the concept of "architecture en miniature". For over 140 years, FSB has refined its metal materials processing to guarantee an unrivalled production quality and surface finish. These features are immediately obvious to the touch. But as touch begins in the mind, they are also a treat for the eye.

Timeless forms. Time for colour: FSB + Les Couleurs® Le Corbusier
The trio of elements for outstanding design now includes colour: from today, FSB offers selected aluminium models in a variety of curated shades, giving planners a reliable tool to achieve architectural colour palettes and huge creative flexibility in realising individual aesthetics. Moreover, the network of Les Couleurs® Le Corbusier partners ensures that colour schemes are consistent across products and trades. From wall paint to door and window profiles, right through to furniture and switches, fittings are coordinated or introduce balanced contrasts. The timeless colour palette comprises 63 perfectly matching shades inspired by the colours of nature.

Freedom and security: Polychromie Architecturale
Colour has a formative influence on architecture. Accordingly, selecting and applying colour is a huge responsibility. The colours of Le Corbusier's Polychromie Architecturale give planners the freedom to realise customised colour schemes, secure in the knowledge they are taking no chances. All shades are arranged in an overarching system. Harmony canthus be created with ease, while different nuances or levels of intensity invariably produce coordinated results. "Having stood the test of time, Le Corbusier's colour palette gives every project an individual look, from the door or window handle to the entire space", says FSB Managing Director Tobias Gockeln. "All shades of the Polychromie Architecturale can be combined with one another. The sophisticated system gives architects plenty of scope for creativity, confident that they are making the right choice, thereby simplifying day-to-day planning", adds Jürgen Hess, FSB's second Managing Director.

FSB 1267 and ErgoSystem® A100 + Les Couleurs® Le Corbusier
Beyond purely functional aspects, the colours of the Polychromie Architecturale give structure to the space and create atmosphere, blending in harmoniously or accentuating certain areas. Door and window hardware of the FSB 1267 product family and handles and accessories from the ErgoSystem® A100 facilitate planners' work in this regard. As a tribute to Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, FSB 1267 is true to the formal intentions of the door handle designed by the master himself, combining them with the requirements of modern architecture and standards. The universal, timeless aesthetics of the extensive product family make it extremely versatile. Available in Les Couleurs® Le Corbusier, the FSB 1267 model can be a vivid eye-catcher or concealed in a matching shade. ErgoSystem® A100 shows that there are no limits when it comes to aesthetic, barrier-free comfort. Unique on the market, the diagonal alignment of the oval grip cross-section observes the ergonomics of optimal grip. FSB + Les Couleurs® Le Corbusier offer virtually endless design options for retirement and nursing homes, sports facilities, hotels and the hospitality sector, as well as in the home, from bathrooms to kitchens, halls and children's bedrooms.
