Or minds are evidently located less in some transcendental sphere than in our hands. We grasp when we think because that’s what our hands do too. This piece of work took shape in the context of our “Grasping with hand and mind” theme and draws on a quote by Otl Aicher. The idea behind it: Grasping with our minds through the act of grasping with our hands. A sculptural work materialises, the shape of the hand, a grasping hand, is crystallised in the process.

The question is: By what different ways and means can this hand be taken hold of?

Snug recesses for the hand intimate a number of ways in which this can be done; the beholder is encouraged to try these out and to investigate the object and possible ways of holding it for themselves: “Grasping with hand and mind”
