100 years of Otl Aicher

As part of the 100th anniversary of Otl Aicher's birth, FSB has invited four universities of different focuses to engage with his creations and his work for FSB.

Aicher, FSB, four universities and a project for the future

Otl Aicher is considered one of the formative German protagonists of design in the 20th century. His work was intervening, creative and intellectual. For FSB, Otl Aicher was mentor, sparring partner and visual designer. With the project 'Otl Aicher + FSB', we pay tribute to the achievements of the universalist who, in addition to his design projects, repeatedly dealt with social issues in depth and constantly sought the balancing act between philosophy, commerce and design.

'Otl Aicher + FSB' focuses on the projects of students of design, architecture, philosophy and cultural studies. The projects are based on the ideas of Otl Aicher as manifested in his texts and designs. Aicher's themes and approaches have endured to this day and continue to occupy entire generations. We are looking to the future - and back to more than 35 years that are inseparably linked with Otl Aicher.

After all, he not only developed our iconic logo and the still timeless appearance of our brand. Under his rigorous eye, we established a sound corporate culture that we can still build on today.
