From the very beginning, we have set great store by developing our own designs without copying fake historic motifs, such as post-horns or duckbills.

Brass fittings found on the market are made from a great variety of alloys and offered in widely differing price brackets. However, not everything that glitters like gold is genuine brass. Our products certainly are: we use exclusively the copper-zinc alloy defined as brass by DIN 17 660, CuZn 37, material id-number. 2.0321 or. 2.0335.
 
 
Frequent polishing is rewarded with a golden lustre.

It is often neglected to point out that brass is subject to corrosion in daily use. There is only one remedy: polishing. Whoever has once spent a holiday in Nordic countries knows how meticulously the brass furniture on entrance doors is polished there every week. Whoever does not like polishing may choose between lacquered and waxed surfaces. Waxed brass objects are polished by daily use. Parts that are not touched quickly develop a brown to grey-green patina. Many customers find this type of surface finish particularly attractive from an aesthetic point of view. Lacquered brass fittings lose their surface polish as soon as the lacquer is damaged. Then inter-crystalline corrosion sets in immediately.

FSB basically recommends using only waxed brass surfaces. Polished waxed surfaces can be treated with standard cleaning agents. The use of lacquered brass surfaces is not recommended especially for outdoor applications, where the effect of the sun’s rays and the environment will inevitably hasten corrosion. Above all, brass fittings should not be installed on frequently used doors in public buildings – unless one doesn’t mind regular polishing.
