Coloured door and window fittings have come to be accepted in the marketplace over recent decades. There was a time when they were often the only architectural design elements in a sea of grey concrete. Now the builders hardware trade would be scarcely imaginable without them.

FSB views itself in the first instance as being a makers of door and window hardware in choice metals. FSB only supplies colour-coated hardware to a very limited extent. Please quote the RAL number when making your order. It always needs to be borne in mind that slight material and process-related colour discrepancies can occur during manufacture.

FSB uses the cast and ground aluminium models from its standard range as the basis for its coated fittings. A special type of anodic oxidation is performed prior to fittings being coated. FSB then conducts a process of electrostatic powder-coating, which is a solvent-free lacquering procedure.
The colour layers applied have a thickness of approx. 80 μm. The quality of the finish - fade resistance of colours, surface hardness, resistance to abrasion etc. - roughly corresponds to that for anodised aluminium.

FSB is occasionally asked to supply tubular-section door pulls in stainless steel or steel as colour-coated variants. One drawback of using steel rather than aluminium as the base material, however, is that, if the colour coating is damaged, the material beneath may become prone to corrosion. We wish to make explicit reference to this. FSB accordingly refuses to accept any liability for such products from the outset.

The colour coatings on FSB hardware will withstand everyday use assuming correct assembly and proper use. Sharp knocks involving hard, angular objects such as rings, keys, boxes etc. may cause the surface to be scratched. Scratch marks do not in any way impair the functioning of the hardware, though.
