Good match: Frame door hardware from FSB

and frame door locks from SSF.

The venerable lock making firm Sächsische Schlossfabrik (SSF) has been a joint subsidiary of door handle makers FSB and door and window engineering specialists Winkhaus since 2006, allowing technically harmonised hardware and locks to be effectively provided from a single source.

As of now, frame door hardware from Brakel and SSF frame door locks with a through-fixing capability are likewise fully interoperable.

Facilitating this is fixing set FSB 0526 10, which is specifically geared towards 01 and 02 Series frame door locks by SSF and with which FSB frame door hardware can be supplied and factory-prepared to order. The set contains screws to suit a given door thickness plus metal lugs that are inserted into the base with great precision at the factory, replacing the usual rubber retarders, and are additionally fastened on one side by means of an M5 screw. This fastening method also does away with the need for rivet nuts, since the metal lugs are recessed into both sides of the stile, thus acting in the same way as the usual rivet nuts. One tangible merit of metal lugs is that they consign wobbly frame door handles to the dustbin of history by efficiently channelling the forces exerted to operate the door into the stile. Where large-format and/or heavy doors in particular are concerned, this delivers durable strength of a kind hardware fastened with, for instance, metal screws cannot always guarantee in the final instance. Single-handle sets prepared for through fixing in this way by FSB have the additional effect of significantly cutting assembly times due to just two screws being required to fit the frame door hardware (as compared with the usual four screws for two single-handle sets fixed from either side).

FSB’s aesthetically and functionally outstanding frame door handles are technically complemented to consummate effect by SSF tubular-frame locks: the special features of these Saxon locks include shavings-proof through-fixing holes, a galvanised lock case enclosed at both top and bottom, a sound-dampened latch bolt (except in the case of rollerbolt and deadbolt locks), a clamping follower and a non-handed latch bolt.

More information on through-fastened frame door locks from SSF can be found on the Internet at www.fsb.de/novelties or www.ssf.de.
