Mislaid or stolen keys are a thing of the past at last. FSB’s new Fingerscan 2.0 door pull provides scope for fitting an exceedingly low-profile biometric identification unit to classic FSB tubular pull handle designs.
The resultant hardware allows its user to unlock doors without a key and is as convenient as it is security-conscious. Indeed, the underlying technology for Fingerscan is already standard in high-security spheres of the State as well as at a number of financial institutes of repute.
One principal benefit of FSB’s Fingerscan 2.0 concerns the flexible management of access rights, which can be straightforwardly issued or deleted using the menu-driven programming unit. For organisational purposes, for instance, this allows access rights to be defined for specified times: say, for a neighbour to come in to the water the plants while you’re away on holiday or for cleaning staff who are granted access to specific rooms for a given duration.
Operating the Fingerscan door pull, winner of the prestigious iF product design gold award 2009 and Deutscher Designpreis 2010, is child’s play too: simply take hold of the handle, run your index finger (or any other finger) over the scanner and open the door.
FSB Fingerscan door pulls come in the variants home integra, home2 integra and home3 surface-mounted and are capable of administering up to 99 fingers. The home2 integra and home3 surface-mounted variants additionally provide scope, by means of two and three relays respectively, for actuating peripheral items such as garage doors and/or alarms.
Jointly developed with ekey – the market leader in Europe for biometric access control – FSB’s Fingerscan 2.0 is THE security-responsive alternative to keys, which are so notoriously prone to getting lost in one way or another. The Fingerscan system combines perfectly with motorised locks or motor-driven multipoint locking systems that wholly lock the door once it has fallen into the latch. Mechanical operation by means of a lock cylinder and classic manual locking is likewise feasible.
To coincide with fensterbau/frontale 2010, FSB is adding cranked door pulls with a round cross-section, made to measure in lengths exceeding 1,500 mm, to its Fingerscan 2.0 range. Their cranked styling recommends these pulls for use on main entrance doors with narrow stiles or on tubular frame doors.
