What really drove David Chipperfield to design a set of handles was the desire to fit buildings out with hardware that lends expression to the architectural philosophy behind what he does and, indeed, enhances it.
Mr Chipperfield’s design for FSB bears the hallmark of the precursors of modernism and echoes the philosophy of a certain Ludwig Wittgenstein, and he is intent on achieving the same logical clarity. FSB 1004 incorporates a formal concept that meets all functional requirements and hence lends expression to our underlying philosophy in both the private and public spheres. The range can be specified for both residential ventures and ‘public projects’ due to its comprising commonly marketed mechanical parts and conforming to the relevant building and safety standards. The door lever handles can be supplied with either AGL® heavy-duty bearings, with the option of a fire-safety capability, or standard bearings. The range is rounded off by frame door handles, with or without a crank feature, and a window handle - all in combination with straight-cornered roses. The furniture comes in Aluminium, Stainless Steel and Bronze.
